Construct Validation and Prediction of the School Psychological Capital in Two Chinese Cultural Contexts

Psychological Capital (PsyCap) has received much attention in industrial-organizational research because it is linked to a broad spectrum of adaptive work-related outcomes. However, few studies have been conducted on PsyCap non-Western school contexts, especially the ethnic minority areas Mainland China. The present study aims validate scale, examine latent mean differences across Dai and Han groups, verify correlation between academic engagement, achievement emotions, sample 769 Chinese children (Han students = 249, 520) seventh eighth grades. Results demonstrated that version scale had excellent psychometric properties. Besides, there were no significant level two cultural groups Han. multi-group second-order CFA model showed students’ resilience was lower than findings also positive predictive effects optimal outcomes (i.e., enjoyment, achievement) but negatively affect boredom. This enriches understanding from cross-cultural perspective. Both theoretical practical implications are discussed.
